How Does Brazilian Hair Straightening Work?

Anyone with curly and frizzy hair understands the effort and frustration that is involved in just making your hair manageable.  That’s why there are so many hair straightening methods out there that promise you silky smooth and frizz-free locks.  Brazilian hair straightening is a new one that is sweeping the hair straightening world.  Let’s look at what makes it different from other types of permanent hair straightening.

First, rather than using harsh chemicals to straighten hair, Brazilian hair straightening focuses on using keratin.  This is a protein that is found naturally in hair, as well as in skin and nails.  Rather than harshly breaking chemical bonds and changing the structure of hair, the keratin solution used in Brazilian hair straightening coats the hair, smooths out frizziness, and allows the hair to lay flat and shine beautifully.

Many other types of hair straightening use very harsh chemicals, and so they are not recommended for people with damaged or chemically treated hair.  The keratin used in Brazilian hair straightening, on the other hand, actually repairs and protects damaged hair.  Often, people with dry, brittle, or chemically damaged hair see great results with Brazilian hair straightening.

The only real drawbacks to Brazilian hair straightening are that it is not technically permanent.  Results last for a  few months, and then the procedure must be repeated.   But, as long as you are aware that this is the case, it shouldn’t be too big of a deal.  After all, there really is no such thing as permanent hair straightening, since your hair keeps growing, and new hair growth will need to be straightened as well.  With this semi-permanent hair straightening treatment, hair gradually returns to its natural condition, and the more times the treatment is performed, the longer-lasting the effects are.

Brazilian hair straightening is a great alternative to harsh chemical hair straightening techniques.  This permanent hair straightening method is a lot gentler on hair, and can repair and protect hair while smoothing and straightening it.  This is a great option for you to try if you are sick of fighting with frizzy hair!
